Tour description
Immerse yourself in the art of Venetian mask-making with this hands-on workshop in a traditional Venetian atelier. Led by a skilled artisan, this experience takes you inside one of Venice’s most cherished artistic traditions, where history, craftsmanship, and creativity come together.
Your experience begins with a private water taxi pickup from your centrally located hotel, ensuring a seamless and exclusive start to your journey. Arriving at a historic mask workshop, step into a world of intricate designs, shimmering colors, and timeless craftsmanship.
Before getting creative, enjoy an engaging introduction to the history of Venetian masks, their significance in Carnival and Venetian society, and the techniques used to craft them. Then, under the guidance of an expert artisan, choose a papier-mâché mask base and begin the decorating process, using paints, gold leaf, and other traditional materials.
This interactive workshop allows you to personally take part in the decorative process, learning the delicate skills that Venetian artisans have passed down for centuries. Whether you're inspired by the extravagant masks of Commedia dell’Arte or the elegance of traditional Bauta and Moretta designs, your creation will reflect the essence of Venice’s rich artistic heritage.
This private experience offers a unique and intimate way to connect with Venice’s Carnival traditions, blending history, art, and personal creativity for an unforgettable cultural experience.
