  • Port of Messina
  • The Port of Messina, which has remained almost completely unchanged throughout the centuries, maintaining its natural form, is the widest berth in Sicily. Though its vocation as a commercial port has waned, in the past it received and sheltered vessels of any tonnage from windy or adverse sea conditions. Today, though not a trading port, it is a refueling station for sea going vessels. The city has been known for centuries as the doorway to Sicily, and its livelihood now depends largely on tourists visiting not only Messina, but the entire Island.
  • Is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, whose name is derived from the plant of the elder (savucu in Sicilian dialect). This small village near Messina owes its fame above all to the film “Il Padrino” which has transformed the “Bar Vitelli” into a very famous place: it is located at the entrance of the village and has been partially transformed for a half into a museum where you can admire ancient objects and where you can enjoy a delicious lemon granita. Related to the film is also the church of S. Nicolò where the scenes of the wedding between the two main characters were filmed.
  • This town was built on the lower peak of a small mountain, while on the higher peak that overlooks the town are the remains of a Norman castle. Forza d'Agrò has featured as the backdrop in a number of films, such as The Godfather trilogy. The village offers a wonderful medieval atmosphere with its narrow streets, charming churches and aristocratic buildings.
  • This small village above Taormina is a real genuine natural terrace built around the ruins of a Norman castle that, over time, has assumed a concave and smooth shape, similar to that of a millstone. Therefore, it is easy to guess the origin of the name. It is a contraction of “Castle” and “Mola”.
