The Port of Messina, which has remained almost completely unchanged throughout the centuries, maintaining its natural form, is the widest berth in Sicily. Though its vocation as a commercial port has waned, in the past it received and sheltered vessels of any tonnage from windy or adverse sea conditions. Today, though not a trading port, it is a refueling station for sea going vessels. The city has been known for centuries as the doorway to Sicily, and its livelihood now depends largely on tourists visiting not only Messina, but the entire Island.
-
Mt Etna in Sicily, locally called "Mongibello", is Europe's largest and most active volcano. Its frequent eruptions are often accompanied by large lava flows, but rarely pose danger to inhabited areas. Etna is one of the volcanoes with the longest historic record of eruptions, going back more than 2000 years. The views in while traveling to the 2,700 metre summit via cable car are simply breathtaking. With the added suspense of being on Europe's most active volcano, it's a once in a lifetime experience for thrill seekers.
-
This Greek Theatre is one of the largest of its kind in all of Sicily, second only to the Greek Theatre of Siracusa. Built in the third century BC, the theatre is remarkably well preserved and is still used today for opera and musical performances.
-
Perched on the cliffside overlooking the beautiful Sicilian sea and the famous "Isola Bella", you will find Taormina. You can spend days here without a problem. taste the great local food, take the sun along the beaches or be inspired by the ancient Roman Theatre and Odeon. Going to Taormina means to rest your body and your soul.

Upon returning to your Private driving guide, set off to one of the most magical towns in the whole of Italy. Taormina has been under control of many great reigns for centuries from the Greeks, to the Arabs, to the Ancient Romans, meaning the town has a huge historical heritage. The vocal point of the town is the well preserved Ancient Greek theatre. Your driving guide will accompany you through the site, detailing historic events that occurred here and showing you great vantage points looking out to the wonderfully blue waters below, a scene that people have been enjoying since the construction of the theatre in the third century BC.
