  • The Forum of Caesar was commissioned by Julius Caesar as a monumental extension of the Roman Forum, designed to reflect his political power and ambition. It served as a civic and symbolic space, centered around the Temple of Venus Genetrix, ancestor of the Julian family.
  • The so called Sacred Area of Largo Argentina is a stunnigly important archeological area where the ruins and remains of four ancient Roman temples, built between the III and the I century BC, provide a wide evidence of rituals and architecture in Ancient Rome. Just behind the temples, where today the Argentina Theatre is located, there were more headquarters used by the Roman Senators. It will be kind of mind-blowing to find out that this is the spot where great Julius Caesar was killed!

Tour description

Walk through ancient Rome following the life and fate of Julius Caesar on this private walking tour focused entirely on the man who changed the course of Roman history. In two carefully paced hours, this experience traces his rise to power, his political vision, and the dramatic events that ended the Roman Republic.

The tour opens in the Roman Forum, the political and ceremonial center of Caesar’s world. Moving through the remains of basilicas, temples, and public spaces, your Official Private Guide explains how Caesar used this arena to consolidate authority, address the people, and challenge the old republican order. Walking the Via Sacra, you gain a clear picture of Rome at a moment of profound transformation.

You then stop at the Temple of Caesar, erected after his assassination. Standing near the altar where his body was cremated, you explore how Caesar’s death reshaped Roman identity and how public devotion turned him into a symbol that would fuel the rise of the Empire.

The route continues to the Forum of Caesar, a space conceived by Caesar himself to express power, control, and permanence. Your guide places this monumental project in its historical context, explaining how architecture became a political tool during the final years of the Republic and how opposition to Caesar intensified.

The experience concludes at Largo di Torre Argentina, the site of Caesar’s assassination. Among the remains of Republican-era temples, you revisit the events of the Ides of March, reconstructing the conspiracy, the motivations of the senators, and the immediate consequences of the murder. The story is told clearly and without embellishment, allowing the drama of history to speak for itself.

This private tour is ideal for travelers who want a focused, historically grounded exploration of Julius Caesar’s life and legacy, experienced directly in the places where his power was built and ultimately destroyed.
