  • Vittoriano
  • Circus Maximus
  • A picture with the Spanish Steps in the background is a must do in Rome! This modern monument was arranged three centuries ago in order to find an architectural connection between the Fountain of the Barcaccia on the street level, by Pietro Bernini, and the Renaissance church standing on the top of the slope. The Spanish Steps are unique for their unusual plan and shape designed by Alessandro Specchi and Francesco De Sanctis. Traditional icon of the Italian Dolce Vita, the Spanish Steps cannot be missed during a visit to the Eternal city.
  • The backdrop to many classic films such as "Roman Holiday" and "La Dolce Vita" the fountain is the biggest of its kind in Rome. Work on the fountain started in 1732 after the Popes competition during the Baroque era to build something as beautiful as the Spanish Steps. The creator of the world famous fountain actually didn't win the contest but due to the outcry in Rome over a Florentine having won, Nicola Salvi was given the go ahead!
  • Piazza Navona is littered with Baroque masterpieces, including those of the world famous "Bernini" The area was originally used as an Athletics stadium in the year of 80 AD under Emperor Titus, which later turned into the city's market in the 1500's. The square has kept its original shape and the surrounding buildings were erected upon the ancient crowd stand foundations. f
  • The Pantheon, a former Roman temple, is located within central Rome, within walking distance to other well known sites as Navona Square and the Trevi Fountain. Now a functional church, it is the burial place for many Resniense masters such as Raphael as well as 2 kings of Italy. The monument is very unique with a circular, Oculus roof allowing sunlight and even rain into the beautiful church. The original building was constructed almost 2000 years ago and Michelangelo was noted as saying that the design is of Angels and cannot be of human concept.
  • This mysterious, almost freestanding artifact from Ancient Rome has unclear answers of its original. Some historians say it was used as a drain cover inside the openair temple opposite to where it stands now, others suggest it was used for blood to drip through during animal sacrifices. Nowadays, there is a big myth that, if a liar places their hand within its open mouth, the hand will be lost forever. Many replicas can be found around Italy and even abroad, however, the origin is within the covered entrance of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin church in Rome.
  • Some say Piazza Venezia is the center of Rome, and it is hard to disagree. Standing in this are will give you several choices for what to discover next! The square itself is home to the famous "Big white building" which is an the National Memorial that allows you great views of Rome. Within the square you can also see Trajan's Column and even the Colosseum in the distance!
  • Circo Massimo was a huge entertainment venue during Ancient times and was mainly used for chariot-racing for the Emperor, the first of its kind. The site hosted an estimated 150,000 spectators at one time, roughly double then the Colosseum. The ancient race course still has visible foundations and the shape is perfectly intact, despite being almost 2 thousand years old. The location is between the Aventine and Palatine Hills, of which the latter offers a great view of the Circus below.
