  • One of the new wonders of the modern world is also the largest ever Amphitheatre constructed during Ancient times was built with Volcanic rock mixed with brick and held an estimated 50-80 thousand people. It was a real hub of entertainment in central Rome, with regular shows, animal hunts and gladiatorial battles. Races were not held within the Colosseum due to the nearby Circo Massimo race track.
  • Access to the Arena floor is closed off to public by a small gate and is accessible with an internal Colosseum guide. The Arena floor offers views of the underground foundations below and the privilege to walk where Gladiators and wild beasts once fought to the death.

This is where the citizens came to listen to speeches, to meet the senators or to see people like Julius Caesar or Cicero.   • Limited Access for wheelchair users on this itinerary (contact us to customize your experience)
  • Closed-toe, non-slip shoes are required for safety. Access to the Colosseum may be denied without proper footwear.
  • Please ensure you bring valid photo ID or passports. Colosseum staff will perform checks, and access may be denied if the names on the tickets do not match the identification provided.
  • For security reasons all visitors are screened at the entrance and bags are checked with metal detectors and opened and visually inspected by the Urbe Security Institute, responsible for the entrance inspection.
  • It is not possible to bring large bags or backpacks, as well as bulky bags and trolleys to the sites. (only small or medium flat bags). Tripods are not allowed.

  1. Dolce Vita policy is applied on all Standard Bookings placed more than 72 hours from the date of the event. We provide all our customers with Refundable Terms up to 72 hours from the date of the event for any reason. To apply for a refund including where your tour is cancelled or changed by Eyes of Rome®, please contact our customer service team at info@eyesofrome.com.
  2. Peace of Mind policy is applied on Selected Bookings and on all Bookings placed within 72 hours from the date of the event. We provide all our customers with Refundable Terms so if you are unable to attend your booking due to unforeseen circumstances outside of your control you may be entitled to a refund - please see our full set of Refundable Terms and Conditions here. To apply for a refund, please find the instructions on how to apply in the booking confirmation email you received after payment.
