Frascati

Frascati is one of the most famous villages of the so called Castelli Romani area, disseminated through the Roman countryside. Walking through the narrow roads of this historical town while admiring its main church or its renaissance villas, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the local flavors and delicacies such as the great Frascati DOC wine, a traditional and local production very appreciated by Italians and tourists.
Tour description
Meet your private driver-guide in the lobby of your hotel to start your tour to the Roman countryside for the day, which will include a visit to Italian countryside villages and wine tasting. Journey to the idyllic Castelli Romani, which is a collection of hilltop towns outside of Rome. As the area’s altitude is higher than that of Rome, wealthier Romans once frequented it for its fresher climate during summer. Every weekend these towns, and Frascati in particular, fill up with Romans looking for a change of pace, clean air, good food and wine. Your guided tour will take you first along the legendary Appian Way, the ancient Roman road that went southward all the way to Brindisi. Once you arrive in Frascati, you will be taken on a tour of some old vineyards and learn about the same old farming techniques that these families have been using for centuries.
You will visit the old wine cellar of a wine farmhouse, where you will be introduced to the secrets and the historic wine-making processes of the famous Frascati wine, surrounded by ancient vineyards and olive groves.
All of the wines will be paired with local products prepared and served directly at the farmhouse!
At the end of your tour, you will be dropped back off at your hotel in Rome.
