Tour description
Spend a day surrounded by the awe-inspiring beauty of the Dolomites on this private driving tour through some of its most iconic valleys and scenic passes. Designed for those who want to experience the full majesty of the mountains in comfort and style, this 6-hour itinerary offers a curated journey through dramatic landscapes, alpine culture, and unforgettable vistas.
Your private driver and expert local guide will meet you at your hotel at 8:30 a.m. From there, you'll set off toward Lake Carezza, a jewel nestled in the Val d’Ega. Surrounded by dense fir forests and reflecting the dramatic peaks of the Latemar mountain group, this glacial lake has captivated visitors for centuries. Take time to walk along the lakeside path and enjoy the serenity of this legendary spot, known in Ladin legends as the "Rainbow Lake" for its stunning, iridescent colors.
From Lake Carezza, your route climbs gently to the Costalunga Pass, an alpine crossing that straddles the provinces of Bolzano and Trento. Here, the Catinaccio and Latemar massifs frame a cinematic panorama of rugged peaks and forested slopes—one of the most iconic vistas in the Dolomites. As you ascend, your guide will share the geological and cultural history of these UNESCO-listed mountains, offering insight into how they were shaped by nature and by the people who call them home.
You’ll then descend into the heart of Val di Fassa, a pristine alpine valley steeped in Ladin traditions and dramatic beauty. Winding roads lead to Passo Sella, a mountain pass at 2,240 meters above sea level, offering unmatched views of the Sella Group and Sassolungo, two of the most monumental formations in the Dolomites. Weather permitting, there will be time to stretch your legs and enjoy the crisp mountain air—or even take a ride on one of the panoramic cable cars (optional, not included), ascending to viewing platforms high above the valley floor.
Your final stop is the elegant village of Ortisei, the cultural and artistic heart of Val Gardena. Known for its woodcarving heritage and charming pedestrian center, Ortisei offers a perfect blend of alpine tradition and refined hospitality. Take time to explore its artisan shops, grab a coffee at a local café, or sit down for a traditional lunch at a mountain restaurant (at your leisure, not included).
As the afternoon light softens the peaks, your driver will bring you comfortably back to your hotel. Whether you’re a photographer, a nature lover, or simply in search of the Dolomites’ most unforgettable views, this private tour offers a seamless, enriching experience in one of the world’s most stunning mountain landscapes.
