Tour description
Set out on an extraordinary full-day private journey through the Dolomites, where alpine lakes, dramatic peaks, and vast open landscapes define every moment of the day. This experience is designed to reveal the most evocative corners of South Tyrol, combining natural beauty, peaceful pauses, and a carefully paced route, all with the ease and comfort of a private driver and guide.
The day begins early with a scenic drive toward Lake Braies, one of the most striking natural settings in the Dolomites. Sitting high in the mountains, its clear waters shift between shades of green and blue, reflecting the surrounding peaks in a way that feels almost unreal. Time here is unhurried, allowing you to walk along the shoreline and fully absorb the silence and scale of the landscape.
Leaving Braies behind, the route continues to Lake Dobbiaco, a smaller and quieter alpine lake set between two vast protected areas. Surrounded by forests and mountain ridges, this peaceful stop offers a completely different mood, more intimate and contemplative, perfect for slowing the pace and enjoying the stillness of the Dolomites.
The journey then climbs toward Lake Misurina, often called the Pearl of the Dolomites. As the road rises, the views widen, opening onto one of the most iconic mountain basins in the region. The lake sits beneath towering peaks, with the surrounding scenery mirrored in its calm surface. It is an ideal place for a relaxed stroll or a short pause to enjoy the crisp mountain air.
From here, you reach Cortina d’Ampezzo, the elegant alpine town long associated with mountain sports and refined mountain life. Set within a dramatic natural amphitheater, Cortina blends tradition and style, offering a glimpse into the cultural side of the Dolomites before the journey continues deeper into the mountains.
The road then ascends the legendary Giau Pass, one of the most impressive mountain crossings in the Alps. Wide meadows, open skies, and jagged peaks unfold with every turn, creating a sense of vastness that defines the Dolomitic landscape. This stretch is pure scenery, where the road itself becomes part of the experience.
Continuing onward, the route reaches Fedaia Pass, where Lake Fedaia stretches beneath the imposing presence of the Marmolada. The contrast between water, rock, and ice creates a powerful and unforgettable scene, shaped by time and nature on a monumental scale.
Descending into Canazei, in the heart of Val di Fassa, you enter a region where Ladin culture remains deeply rooted. This is the perfect moment to enjoy lunch, choosing between a cozy mountain refuge or a more refined restaurant, depending on your preferences and the rhythm of the day.
In the afternoon, the drive continues over Costalunga Pass, where dense forests and gentle alpine slopes soften the scenery. The final highlight of the day is Lake Carezza, famous for its extraordinary reflections. As the light changes, the lake reveals layers of color, mirroring the surrounding peaks in a way that feels almost magical.
In the early evening, you return to your hotel with memories shaped by alpine lakes, mountain passes, and vast Dolomite landscapes. More than a simple scenic drive, this private tour is a carefully curated encounter with the Dolomites, created to move at your pace and leave a lasting impression of one of Italy’s most poetic regions.
