The 1540 Palace is home to a large collection of Art within its Galleria Spada which ends with a garden leading to the Tiber river. The Palazzo has mainly a Baroque architecture throughout and features a very unique optical illusion masterpiece, given you a force perspective in the arcaded courtyard. Borromini created an illusion where the gallery corridor seems to be 37 meters long (it is only 8 meters) and with this, it will seem that the columns in the corridor will diminish and the floor will rise, highlighting the 60 cm sculpture at the end and making it seem as a life-sized statue.

This villa is one of the clearest example of Renaissance art and architecture in Rome: a place where to be surrounded by Beauty. The rooms of the palace are frescoed by Raphael, his pupils and Renaissance masters. The private estate was property of a banker named Agostino Chigi who, approximately five hundreds years ago, was likely to be considered one of the richest men in the world. The decoration features the famous Loggia of Amore and Psiche, with paintings inspired by the Roman myths, and is renowed for the owners’ private bedrooms, where he apparently spent a long time …

Take a tour to discover the aristocratic palaces in Rome, starting from Palazzo Spada in the historic center of Rome, which accommodates the large art collection originally assembled by the Cardinal Spada. Start your tour by admiring the facade of the palace designed by Borromini; in the interior, marvel at Borromini's ingenious illusionistic gallery. Following your private guide you will learn the history of the Spada family and admire stunning sculptures, paintings and ancient furniture.
Continue your journey through the Eternal City across the Tiber river in Trastevere. Together with your guide will explore Villa Farnesina, a little gem full of priceless masterpieces from the Renaissance. Among the artworks, you will admire frescoes by Raphael in the Loggia of Cupid and Psyche as well as in the Loggia of Galatea.
