Rome: Old Paintings Restoration Hands-on Workshop

Let your child step into the shoes of an artist and restorer with this fun and interactive workshop, designed especially for young, curious minds!

In this 90-minute hands-on experience, kids will discover how painters of the past created their own colors and materials, just like Michelangelo and Caravaggio did centuries ago.

Guided by expert restorers, children will mix natural pigments with linseed oil and egg yolk to create their very own egg tempera and oil paints—the same techniques used in historic masterpieces. They’ll then get to paint on a special canvas, using their newly made colors, while learning how art restoration helps preserve beautiful paintings for the future.

At the end of the experience, each PERSON will take home their own decorated canvas, making for a wonderful keepsake of their time in the atelier. Perfect for budding young artists, this workshop is an engaging way to introduce children to the magic of art, history, and creativity—all while having fun!
