Made famous by the 1960's film "La Dolce Vita" for its string of exclusive restaurants and world renowned hotels, the street was first constructed in the 1880's in result of Rome joining the Kingdom of Italy.
-
Palazzo Altemps is a wonderful building from the XV century, but it is also something more. Today it is home to an archeological museum where you can find amazing Roman masterpieces, like the so called “Trono Ludovisi” or “Ares Ludovisi”. You will notice while discovering the ancient collection that you will be surrounded by the original frescos which decorated the palace centuries ago. Art and beauty everywhere!
-
Constructed in the late 1700's, the Palace is currently home to the Official Museum of Rome. The works of art in the museum even include works of the person who designed the Trevi Fountain but holds pieces from the Medieval age in Rome. The Palazzo Braschi is well located in Navona Square and even offers a nice elevated view of the most famous square in Rome.
-
In Rome there is always a surprise, like the amazing Tiber Island. Imagine to walk along the shores of the river of Rome and, at a certain moment, you will face a real island! You will find two original Roman bridges, that still today are linking the island with the city. The island is also home to a one thousand year old church! Mainly during the summer months, the Tiber Island is beautiful for its delicious restaurants and festivals that are organized here. A must see!
-
This very famous Roman highlight is situated near the Appian Way, and it’s possibly one of the largest and most impressive thermae built in antiquity in Rome, whose splendor is still preserved despite the old age, as they were built between the years 212 and 216 under the direction of Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus, more commonly known as Emperor Caracalla.
-
On the top of the Gianicolo Hill, one of the many hills in Rome, you will be impressed by a wonderful view of Rome from one of its most iconic perspective. There you will seat in front of the giant “Fontana dell’Acqua Paola”: an enormous fountain sculpted in the XVI century, out of original columns and marble pieces from original Roman artifacts. Today as in the past it reveals the glory of Pope Paul V Borghese, who commissioned it. The clean water and the white marble testify once more of the Great Beauty of our beautiful city.
-
One of the best places for an overall view of the Ancient city of Rome. There are countless church tops, bell tours and monuments to admire from the second tallest hill in Rome. Surprising, the Janiculum hill isn't included in the famous "7 hills of Rome" due to its Western position and not within the Ancient Rome side of the Tiber river. The park on Janiculum hill holds hundreds of bust statues leading to the highest viewing point.
-
This 1500's villa almost attached to Borghese park is home to a vast collection of early Etruscan collections within its corridors. The neatly kept garden is where you will find an impressively still intact set of Roman mosaics and statues.
Tour description
The Great Beauty (Italian: La grande bellezza) is a 2013 Italian art drama film co-written and directed by Paolo Sorrentino. The film won Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, as well as the Golden Globe and the BAFTA award in the same category. Experience once again the most beautiful moments from the film accompanied by your expert guide and discover the places that inspired the story of the protagonist Jep Gambardella.
The main character is an aging socialite, Jep Gambardella, who wrote a famous novel in his 20s, only to retire into a comfortable life writing cultural columns and throwing parties in Rome. After his 65th birthday party, he walks through the ruins and city streets, encountering various characters, reflecting on his life, his first love, and sense of unfulfillment.
Enjoy a pleasant walk that will bring you from Via Veneto to Navona Square. Enter Altemps Palace, the museum dedicated to classical Greek and Roman art. Continue your tour through the Eternal City: admire Braschi Palace from the outside, originally commissioned by Pope Pio VI. Continue to the Caracalla Baths and Tiber Island before ascending Janiculum Hill in your private car to admire the stunning settings from the film. End your experience touring Villa Giulia, a Renaissance masterpiece that houses the Etruscan Museum.
