Born in: Terracina

Nationality: Italian

My Studies: Medieval Art History

Languages I speak: Italian, English

My Tours are: Fun, Active, and Fully Customizable- perfect for everyone who wants to expand their knowledge while having a lot of fun!

If I was a phrase I would be:

I am a part of all that I have met; Yet all experience is an arch wherethrough, Gleams that untravelled world, whose margin fades, For ever and for ever when I move. How dull it is to pause, to make an end, To rust unburnished, not to shine in use! As though to breathe were life!
Alfred Tennyson in Ulysses

Buongiorno! My name is Marta and I am a medieval art historian and archaeology enthusiast, from Terracina, a seaside archaeological excavation site near Rome. Growing up near the ruins, with a teacher for a mom, and traveling a lot meant that my becoming a tour guide was my destiny. What makes my tours great is the fact that I adapt my presentation style according to my guests; I take care to actively involve them as part of the experience, to the degree with which they are comfortable! My greatest pleasure is seeing my guests actually enjoy their tours, so my keyword is 'leisure.'

Being a tourguide is leading you through an experience of discovery, nurturing your knowledge and transferring the vast cultural heritage that Rome offers.

My favorite Italian Gestures
Hey you! / Ao!

marta gesture01This gesture is called 'mano a cucchiara', which literally translates to 'spoon hand' and means 'to cup your hand'. Personally, I use this gesture a lot when I am trying to get someone's attention, accompanying the gesture with a nice, loud, Roman, 'Ao'!

To make the gesture, place your open palm next to your mouth and practice yelling 'Ao' (Ah-Oh!) I'm sure you'll find it satisfying and decidedly Italian.

So, when you are with me on a tour, and you fall a little behind or otherwise get distracted, listen for my yell and look for my gesture so you don't get lost! Listen for it around Rome, you are sure to hear the locals trying to get one another's attention.
