Sites you’ll visit

  • Roman Forum
  • Teatro Marcello
  • Largo Argentina
  • Octavia's Porticus
  • The political and business centre of ancient Rome, the warn away paths are covered in history. This is where the citizens came to listen to speeches, to meet the senators or to see people like Julius Caesar or Cicero. The ruins tell a story, and it is the story of Rome and its politics, with the likes of the ancient Curia (the Senate) that is still visible, but also with the impressive marble columns of temples which were erected for the first time in V century BC.
  • The Teatro di Marcello is also known as the “Small Colosseum” for his arches and architecture that recall the iconic symbol of Rome. It was actually a theatre dating back to the I century BC and strongly wanted by the first emperor of Rome, Augustus. Visiting the teatro allows to appreciate the extraordinary skills of the Romans combined with more recent daring experiments of modern integration architecture along with an unusual overview of Romans’ private entertainment.
  • The so called Sacred Area of Largo Argentina is a stunnigly important archeological area where the ruins and remains of four ancient Roman temples, built between the III and the I century BC, provide a wide evidence of rituals and architecture in Ancient Rome. Just behind the temples, where today the Argentina Theatre is located, there were more headquarters used by the Roman Senators. It will be kind of mind-blowing to find out that this is the spot where great Julius Caesar was killed!
  • The remains of the Octavia's Porticus are located within the Jewish Ghetto and from its construction ,dating back to 27BC, has suffered from 2 fires and damage from an earthquake. The ruins that still stand are very impressive and you can feel the importance this build once held when built under Augustus' orders.

Tour description

Follow the lead of your expert guide who will accompany you on this fascinating journey through Julius Caesar’s life, from the conquest of Rome to the time of his death.Julius Caesar, in full Gaius Julius Caesar, was probably the most celebrated Roman general and statesman of all the time. He was launching a series of political and social reforms when he was assassinated by a group of nobles in the Senate House on the Ides of March. Caesar changed the course of history of the Greco-Roman world decisively and irreversibly. Caesar’s name, like Alexander’s, is still on people’s lips throughout the Christian and Islamic worlds. Even people who know nothing of Caesar as a historic personality are familiar with his family name as a title signifying a ruler who is in some sense uniquely supreme or paramount—similar to kaiser in German, tsar in the Slavic languages, and qayṣar in the languages of the Islamic world.

During this tour you will have the chance to visit some of the most important places and attractions in the Eternal City. Explore the Roman Forum, the political and business center of Ancient Rome, where Julius Caesar’s body was cremated for all the Roman public to see.

Visit Teatro Marcello from the outside and be stunned by this well-preserved theater that was built by Augustus. Continue to the ruins of Largo Argentina, where the remains of four Republican era temples are preserved next to the remains of Pompey's Theatre, the site of Caesar's assassination. Follow your tour guide to the Porticus of Octavia, built by Augustus in name of his sister, located in the charming Jewish Ghetto. Finally, discover the site of the conspiracy that ended in the murder of Julius Caesar and learn the most important facts about Roman history and ancient politics connected to this great man.
