Take a walking tour of the city's most popular monuments and bustling piazzas in the historical center. We will cover highlights of the city such as the ancient Senatorial Forum and the Colosseum. We will explore the building where gladiators once fought wild beasts and, as legend has it, naval battles took place. You will walk among the ancient ruins of the Forum where the city of Rome is said to have originated, and Romulus and Remus - the city's mythological founders - were discovered by the she-wolf who nurtured them as infants.
See for the first time the famous Trevi Fountain, the largest and most famous fountain in Rome as seen in Fellini's La Dolce Vita. Learn the inside story on the competition over who was to design the fountain... You will have the chance to throw a coin in the water - and discover where the tradition of wishing to return to Rome was born.
Continue walking among the cities wonders and explore the Pantheon - the temple dedicated to "all divinities." This magnificent building is considered the most well-preserved ancient temple in the world and the most amazing architectural structure of the ancient world. Michelangelo was so impressed with the Pantheon that he when he saw it for the first time, he proclaimed it of "angelic and not human design."
We will then stroll to Piazza Navona, perhaps the most beautiful square in Rome, which houses three magnificent fountains including the famous Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of the Four Rivers) by Bernini. Piazza Navona is also one of the liveliest squares of Rome with several quaint outdoor restaurants and cafes. This piazza was transformed into a naumachia where sea battles took place by the people of Rome in the 6-700s, and it is said that chariot races once took place here.
Throughout the tour your guide will point out to you the Talking Statues of Rome. These five famous statues were once used by citizens to anonymously protest the Pope or Roman government and leak out secrets of corruption not meant for public ears.
Indulge your curiosity for the morbid at the Cappuccini Friars Crypt, an intriguing collection of artwork made with the human bones of the diseased Cappuccini. The Crypt, a lesser known treasure of the city, holds a clock made entirely of the bones of human fingers.
Everyone who comes to Rome wants to visit the Spanish Steps - the "5th Avenue" of Rome - where all the world's top designers have set up shop. Take in the magnificent view of Rome from the top of the steps, then stroll down Via Condotti, at the base of the Spanish steps, which is one of the best places to shop in the world.
We will wrap up the 'Through Eternity' tour with a visit to Campo Dei Fiori - where the nightlife of Rome begins and ends. This popular meeting point is a flower and produce market by day and transforms into a hub of open clubs and cafes by night. Here you will be free to shop and eat after the tour and enjoy the rest of your day in the eternal city.
