Meet the Holy Father

During your stay in Rome you may wish to attend a Papal Audience, a unforgettable experience for many practicing Catholics. At a Papal Audience you will have the opportunity to see the head of the Catholic Church in person and receive a blessing from the Holy Father himself. If you'd like to ensure that you will be very close to the Pope, Eyes of Rome can obtain tickets from the Diplomatic Corp where you can sit on the stage near the Holy Father where cardinals and politicians sit. These tickets, exclusively available from Eyes of Rome, are subject to availability and therefore must be requested further in advance.

Papal Audiences take place every Wednesday morning at about 10:30am in the Paul IV Audience Hall by St. Peter's Square, or in the Square itself. Men and women are asked to dress conservatively, covering shoulders and knees. If you choose to get the regular tickets, arriving earlier will ensure you better seats.

During the ceremony you will hear a message from the Holy Father followed by his personal greeting to the various groups visiting in their respective languages. You will then receive the Blessing from the Holy Father in which you may hold up any religious articles you bring for that purpose. Newlyweds can receive a special blessing as well. Practicing Catholics must send a letter in advance indicating the date and the name of the Catholic Church in which they were married to be seated in this special section. Newlywed couples must bring their Catholic Sacramental marriage certificate to be admitted by the ushers, and are encouraged to wear their wedding attire to the event.
